The fast pace that 60SIFF had stridden in capturing an audience from around the world induced us to retweek the festival so as to suit this diverse audience. We approached famous film makers from the various countries that were participating and succeeded in manifesting a new and improved jury!
This year’s jury consists of a number of noted film professionals who have gained critical acclaim in their respective fields and countries. The blend of jurors at 60 Seconds International Film Festival focus on increasing the diversity of thought, skill, values and technique; and provide films the best critique possible.

An award-winning filmmaker and journalist from Pakistan.
Having studied filmmaking, computer science and politics at Dartmouth College in the US, he directed and produced Pakistan’s first digital feature film ‘Raat Chali Hai Jhoom Ke’ (The Long Night) in 2000 under his banner Tamarind Pictures. The film received critical acclaim and has been screened at numerous venues inside and outside Pakistan including the US, UK, UAE and India. He has also directed a number of shorts, music videos and documentaries and is currently working on his second feature as well as a documentary project.
Hasan Zaidi is also a founder and Festival Director of the KaraFilm Festival, Pakistan’s premier international film festival, established in 2001, which has been a pioneer in the struggle to rejuvenate a cinema culture as well as the film industry in the country. He is currently a member of the Sindh Board of Film Censors as well. While not making or watching films, he is a freelance journalist and has served as the Pakistan correspondent for the US network NBC News, India Today and Singapore’s Channel News Asia among others.as well as Features Editor for The Herald. He also writes occasionally for Dawn and other domestic publications; is also involved in the establishment of a number of Pakistani television channels and has been a consultant on media for a number of organizations.
He has won the All Pakistan Newspaper Society award for excellence in journalism three times and is a Fellow of and a member of the Board of Governors of Leadership for Environment and Development. In 2003, he was nominated by the World Economic Forum as a Global Leader for Tomorrow.
Abdenour Zahzah is a renowned award winning director and filmmaker from Algeria.
He was born in 1973 and born and bred in Algeria. After completing audio-visual studies at university, he took over the management of the Bilda Film Library in 1998. His experience in the field is only exemplified by his films which have gained worldwide critical acclaim. Al films including his first feature film which was Frantz Fanon: mémoire d’asile (2002). Apart from films, he has directed several documentaries in both Algeria and France.
Actor, artist, writer, filmmaker, educationist and social worker from Pakistan.
Artist, writer, filmmaker, Educationist and social worker was born in Quetta. He completed his masters in English literature from Balochistan University and joined NCA for a degree in Fine Arts with a major in Sculpture. Completing his 4 years professional studies, returned to Quetta where he set up the Department of Fine Arts in Balochistan University, chaired the department for 3 years and went on a British Council scholarship to do a masters in print making from The Slade School of Arts London.
Jamal Shah joined TV in 1976 as a singer and composer and has been part of the most noted Pashto Musical programming for 15 years and became one of the most revered singers. People in the Pashtoon belt of Pakistan and Afghanistan still expects music from Jamal Shah. As an actor, he has achieved the image of a serious, committed and extremely choosy actor, never compromises on content and quality. He has done many Serials, Tele films and a Soup on PTV and other Pakistani channels. Jamal Shah has also acted in International projects such as TRAFFIK a channel 4 production and the recipient of 11 international awards and a Hollywood feature film K2.

Jörg Gruber first gained recognition as a photographer for his pictures in 2003 when he won the Kodak Award for his Photographic Story “India at Night”. He worked together with international well known DOPs like Jürgen Jürges (Michael Haneke), Franz Lustig (Wim Wenders) and Manuel Alberto Claro (Lars von Trier). He worked on the long time feature film project “Dau” of the Director Ilya Khrzhanovsky for three years as an operator and photographer and just finished as a cinematographer the international feature Film ” Epic” with English Director Ben Hopkins Recently he started to shoot the russian feature film about the life and work of Vladimir Mayakovski with the Moscow based Director Alexander Shein and as well on a documentary about the russian painter Wladimir Dubossarsky in his performance for the Art Biennale in Moscow 2013. Jörg Gruber lives with his family in Berlin and Moscow and works as a photographer and cinematographer all around the world.
S. Ashraf Meer is a creative director and filmmaker. His professional experience includes writing, editing, design, visual effects and direction in the US, Europe and Asia.
He attended Emory University, The Atlanta College of Art, American University, and the MFA program at Temple University. He is a recipient of the John G. Stipe Scholarship, a Pennsylvania Council on the Humanities Grant, and the Mid-Atlantic Region Media Arts Fellowship. Ash Meer’s short film projects have been presented at the New York Film and Video festival, The Asian American Film Festival, The Whitney Museum, the Museum of Fine Arts, The Rhode Island International Film Festival, The Veneration Film Festival, The DC Independent Film Festival, The Independent Feature Film Market, and other festivals around the world. He lives in Brooklyn.

He designs projects in a high-style manner, translating them into what the business requires into creative, high impact solutions. He has his unique take on verbal ideas and develops it into a creative way to capture both the information and the emotion needed. In the graphic design world, he specializes in the creation of logos and corporate identities, printed collateral, artworks, graphics, websites, invitations, calendars and special events – from conception, photography, copywriting, development and printing. He has an extensive education in all facets of the arts and graphic design which is coupled with his innate sense of excellent taste and style. He also developed his skills in digital arts and getting great satisfaction from it, his work was featured in three art gallery exhibitions. Honing this skill further will steer him into more coming shows and exhibitions. He just makes things work and designs excellently.

Abdenour Hochiche committed most of his life and career for Cinema Starting in 1989 by creating the high school film club. He also was a Founding member and president of the association Project’heurtsin 2002 (Cultural organization supporting filming in Algeria). Since 2003 he has been heading cinematographic meetings in Bejaia (Algeria). He participated in several film festivals in Algeria and abroad (France, Belgium, Morocco, Tunisia, Burkina Faso). Moreover he has been a moderator in multiple screenings at the TaghitShort Film Festival (2007 and 2008), at Oran Arab Film Festival (2013) and member of the jury of the international short film competition of Aubagne Film Festival in 2010

Sohail Javed is a household name when it comes to music videos and TV commercials. He has over four hundred music videos and a hundred commercials to his credit and has won many awards including Best Music Video Director at the Lux Style Awards 2007-8. He is one of the pionerrs of the music video revolution in Pakistan and has beenrunning his own production company by the name of Brand Talkis, which is a one-window operation for television commercials, music video and television productions.

Mehreen is a 16 year veteran of the industry, with a prolific career as Director/ Producer of gritty, hard-hitting films for Pakistani Television. She has earned a reputation of professionalism and excellence, and is quoted widely as an expert in her field. Mehreen has been a member of the National Board of Film Censors in Karachi, a founding member of WAAR (War Against Rape), the KaraFilm Festival in Karachi, has served as a juror at the Leeds International Film Festival in 2002 and was the Artistic Director at the Maisha Film Lab in Uganda, a non profit training lab founded by director Mira Nair. She is also part of the advisory board of SAAMPT (The South Asian Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Television).
